about

The 1998 compilation cassette, that i complied to send to Fat Cat's Dave Howell, after Jonny Trunk saw my show at Madame Jo Jo's and recommended i send a cassette....

lots of early works, that are raw and lo-fi. Finding my feet.

I was working as an architect at de Rijke March Morgan, while starting making musics, and Philip's friend Chris was a musician, and somehow had the kind idea to invite me to open for his group with Bruce Woolley, The Radio Science Orchestra. Bruce had previously produced Video Killed the Radio Star, and written Slave to the Rhythm with Grace Jones, among many other magical adventures. So it was a wonderful opportunity. I dragged all my record players and studio gear to Soho as I couldn't yet drive. Set up and from the sound of it did quite a avant show for such a venue. I remember on the night the ladies coming up to me and asking me to play pop music. I had to calmly point out i was doing a gig :->

The results are my early hands on phase exploring the machines and manipulations i was creating... most tracks are all improvised live to 4 track cassette -

writing now, it seems to feel a bit fearless, and quite powerful, compared to the more delicate realm i have achieved since. It's all certainly full of sonic energy. Casting aside concerns, and just getting on with making stuff happen. It all took off, after this cassette.

the compilation borrows from several early cassette albums and my first LP - works from 1995-1998, the dawn of my emerging as a sound artist and musician.

18 images come with the download.

Yes, this is a boutique interest release, mastered from the original cassette, as i prefer that the media i used then, plays its part in the experience of that era, now. beautiful analogue hissy cassette tape, lost in time past.

good luck in there...
